Public dream to watch a battle between the clubs was over Catalunya. The tournament which was due to take place for the first time it had to be canceled due to schedule problems.
Initially, the tournament was scheduled a match between FC Barcelona against Espanyol this week. Unfortunately Barca only want to lose their B team in this event with a reason to avoid injury.
Catalan Football Federation (FCF) has attempted to provide an alternative to reschedule the game on 26 September. Barca agree with this schedule, but Espanyol who voiced objections.
Espanyol stronghold was disappointed with the attitude that Barca do not seem serious about this event. Espanyol think Barca did not have a sense of solidarity with fellow clubs Catalunya.
"We have talked about this for four months. Supercopa Catalunya event was held to help finance small clubs. All have agreed to play in the preseason. And at the last moment, Barca said that they will only lower the reserve team. It shows that Barca did not have respect, "said Joan Collet, CEO Espanyol.
Collet connect with saying that this incident will not affect the relationship between Barca with Espanyol. But in the Barca side that seemed to hurt already.
Joan Gaspart, the former president accused Espanyol Barcelona this chaos started deliberately. "If Supercopa Catalunya canceled, it's because of Espanyol who did not want to play on the 26th of September. In this exercise, Espanyol was nothing compared to Barca," retorted Gaspart.
