Stained Ruhr Derby, Police Arrest Hundreds
Privileged duel "Ruhr Derby" between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04, Saturday (20/10) marred by the actions of their supporters. Schalke won the match with 2-1, preceded by acts of violence committed supporters.
Before the game began, fans of both clubs Bundesliga's elite involved in the riots around the Signal Iduna Park stadium. The incident was triggered by the actions of anarchists and provocative advocates of The Royal Blues.
They damaged public facilities around the stadium and supporters set off firecrackers in front of the opponent. Fistfight was eventually occur and cause the authorities were forced to intervene.
Local police used water cannon and tear gas to break up a crowd of supporters in dispute. Through this incident, reportedly 200 people allegedly involved officers secured.
"There were fights and vandalism around the stadium. Safety officers tried to control the situation with pepper spray, mounted police and dogs. Water cannon was reduced. Some fans suffered minor injuries," said a spokesman for local security.
