River Plate Fans Want to Break Record Longest Banner
River Plate, one of the giants in Argentina, it has a very fanatical supporters. For a place in the Guinness Book of Records, on Monday they unfurled the flag of the club up to 7829.74 meters.
More than 15 thousand fans attended River to hold the flag of their old stadium in Figueroa Alcorta Avenue to their new home, the Estadio Monumental, located in the center of Buenos Aires.
The effort was at once an ambition of Argentina's Primera Division club to beat their rivals, Rosario Central which currently holds the record for the longest club flag with 4350 meters long.
After the display, the flag was then cut into pieces and exhibited in various venues ranging museums, government-owned buildings to locations related to sports institutions River.
Got relegated last season, River back to the highest level of Argentine football. Their own performance center rose after a soft start to the season. Lastly they conquered Godoy Cruz 5-0 last weekend.
