Michael Owen Join Stoke

Michael Owen finally docked at Stoke City. Former England international striker digaet Stoke with a one-year contract.

Speculation linking Owen - who is a free agent after being released Manchester United this summer - with Stoke has been widely circulating over the past few days.

Stoke eventually managed to recruit players who also played for Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle United, despite still needs the approval of the Board of Directors of the Premier League.

"Today Stoke City have won the race to acquire British striker Michael Owen with a free transfer," said Stoke on the club's official website.

"The former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker has signed a one-year contract at the Britannia Stadium, having previously released Manchester United at the end of season 2011/12," continued the statement.

Owen became the seventh player carried off Stoke this summer, having previously been Jamie Ness, Geoff Cameron, Michael Kightly, Maurice Edu, Charlie Adam and Steven N'Zonzi. Stoke itself is now struggling in 12th position Premier League standings with three points from three draws.
